SUPPORT YOUR ALMA MATER!
Appeal to all JNU Alumni by Prof. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice Chancellor, JNU
JNU has remained one of the top universities in the country. Over the past five decades, a growing number of its alumnus have been making a mark as noble laureates, academics, social reformers, eminent scientists, civil servants, literary critics, artists, scholars of international repute, foreign language specialists, journalists and opinion makers, political leaders, social activists, technologists, managers of corporate India, and entrepreneurs.
JNU maintains and fostersa strong bond between its alumni and the university community. The University recognizes the alumni as important stakeholders in enhancing JNU's resources for high-quality education and research in the globalized and competitive world of academia.
You will agree that JNU has made a significant and lasting impact on your lives. Is it, not the time for you to think of your alma mater and be apart of its ongoing journey?
We need to critically assess where we want JNU to be in the decades to come and how to get there. If we wish JNU to be one of the top world universities, we need to keep abreast of technology and build new research facilities, state-of-the-art infrastructure, better student facilities and modernize the campus. While our global academic ranking shows an upward movement, getting to premier status will require generous financial support that the public exchequer could not afford.
Let me rekindle your fond memories of the JNU campus; its vibrance, animated discussions, diversity, inclusivity, debating culture, dabhas and late-night discussions. Our journey with your support. Let us walk together. Let's grow together.
Can I make an earnest appeal to all of you to come forward and contribute to Jawaharlal Nehru University to make new strides in academic excellence? Towards this end, on 18 February 2020, the Executive Council approved the creation of the JNU Alumni Endowment Fund.
All donations contributed to the university will be exempted from income tax under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act (Registration No. AAATJ9608HF20241). The name of the Donor and Pan No. are required for issuing the receipt to claim tax exemption under Sec 80G. All donations of Rs.100,000 (Rupee one lakh) and above will be published on the JNU homepage.
